Floods

So for week 7 we are aloud to do what ever we want so I decided to talk about natural disasters because that’s what were talking about in class right now so here is my essay about floods. Hope you guys like it.

Floods are mostly natural disasters but sometimes people make floods on purpose. Like a hot tub or a swimming pool. But floods are also very dangerous to all 50 states that means your city can have a flood anywhere any time anywhere. Floods are so dangerous that just in 2ft of water your car will get swept away. But to stay safe from these floods all you have to do is stay on a high surface away from the water so it can’t sweep you away with all the stuff that the water picked up. Flooding is caused by snow and frozen grounds melting in the spring or heavy rain. Also did you know floods  are the most widespread natural disaster besides wildfires. Floods can occur in rivers to if a river overflows. River flooding is the most common type of flooding. Flash floods is a perfect example of a river flood. Because flash floods happen when there is heavy rain. And that heavy rain is going into the lakes of rivers and that what is causing it to overflow and then eventually start to flood. But ways to stop the rivers or lakes is to build a dam.b Because if you build a dam the water is going to push upwards and then push back down. But it depends how high it is if it is not that high but it is high enough to keep most of the water in then only some will get out. Know If the dam is lsets say is build out of rocks then the water will soak up into the soil. Hurricanes can also cause floods if it is heavy snow then the snow will melt into water and chances are it’s gonna overflow. Like california they had a flood not that long ago because of heavy rain. And it’s crazy because it barely rains out there but that’s just to prove floods or any natural disasters can happen anywhere any time that’s why we have to stay prepared.
